Assessment

Assessment of this half-module is by one pre-seen exam in which two questions are to be answered in two hours. This carries half the weighting of the module as a whole.

How your work is evaluated

The mark for an essay or exam answer reflects the following (in no particular order):

• Relevance (in terms of chosen topic/title). Try and keep your topic in focus.
• Knowledge and sources (accuracy, appropriate selection, citations, bibliography).
• Analysis, argument and structure (clarity, relevance, fairness, coherence).
• Independence of thought (including critical engagement with other views).
• Written presentation (spelling, punctuation, grammar, appropriate language: but it's acknowledged that presentation in an exam script won't reach the standard achievable in an essay.)

Information on the Exam

The exam will be held in the standard second semester exam period and will last for two hours. You will receive a copy of the exam paper some weeks prior to the exam. The exam paper will contain six questions and you will need to answer two of them.
